I guess uncas should get up earlier in the day to see the full buses when people are leaving for work and school.

Another note, the city's transit runs on biodiesel, thus lowering their emissions.

Shall we start to discuss the fact that automobiles are essentially the most subsidized consumer product on the face of the planet?

The concept of public transportation is good for numerous reasons. Unfortunately it is underutilized by many.

I think the main reason for people not using it as much as they could is convenience.

Waiting for the bus to come for 20 to 40 minutes simply isn't as convenient as jumping in the car and driving to your destination.

I wonder how much it would affect property taxes if bus use was free? That might garner enough media attention to promote the benefits of it's use.

I wonder if the stores that offer delivery, combined with the increase in on-line shopping and work-at-home occupations might actually lead to a decreased need for private transportation?

Even considering regular taxi usage, if you're doing an average of 2 trips per day or less, it's actaully cheaper to pay for taxi usage than to own a car (based on approximate cost of $3000 per year for lease or capital depreciation, insurance, maintenance, and gas ... this is a rock bottom price that will be difficult to match in practice).

What are the effects of the recent child safety seat requirements which essentially require a seat until they qualify for their own dirver's licence?
